It is halfway into Selfish Knitting Month and all I have done is a small portion of one very small project. And did you notice? It's crochet, not knitting. To be fair, I did plan on knitting a shawl but I didn't have the right size needles. And this IS a crochet version of the knitted 'Clapotis' found on Knitty. I was so looking forward to knitting for myself that I failed to concentrate on the one holiday item I had yet to finish. As a result, there is a young man wandering the town with mismatched mitts. Normally I wouldn't have given them away but it has been abnormally cold. Besides, his mother has assured me that he hasn't even noticed that the cables are different. I don't mean that one is shorter or fatter than the other. I mean totally different as in a completely different design. Still wondering how I managed to finish the whole thing without noticing... Eventually I'll get around to making a third to match one of them. Hopefully.
While trying to decide what to knit for myself I came to realize that my selfish knitting is knitting for others. There is so much joy to be had through making something for someone else(whether they want it or not!). I'll be the first to admit that my needle/hook skills are, at best, average. I love the fact that I can make a simple scarf and my friends and family think I have amazing talent! :)
